Miami is one of the least atheist cities in the USA. Do a survey here, and almost everyone will declare they believe in God with many being active church goers. It's just Catholicism instead of America's brand of Protestantism.
In Florida, probably the most atheist area is Key West.
Stand corrected. Yep, Miami should have a large Catholic population.
Why Athens, GA hasn't been mentioned yet, is a great question. I've been there numerous times(uncle, aunt, and cousin are from there), and I always got that sense there were a lot of agnostics/athiests there. Maybe it isn't as non-religious as say Maryland, parts of Florida, or say like Asheville, but it still has plenty of non-religious people.
To some extent, I bet Nashville and Chattanooga would have some non-religious people as well.
This doesn't exist nowhere in the US; even if they were, they'd still be counted as religious because they're engulfing themselves in a belief system...those who heavily preach it of course.

Neither one of those cities should be mentioned. One of Nashville's nicknames is the Protestant Vatican, and Chattanooga is the most "Bible-minded" city in the country.

I'm deeply skeptical about the usefulness of the bible-minded city database. They don't use metro areas for instance, but rather it seems like they're going by TV market boundaries, which includes many rural counties which are not associated with the metro.

Yeah. The cities that you expect to see in the top of the list are exactly where you thought they would be and the same on the other end of the list.
