Gotta go with NYC as its a great experience. Its downfall is the price though, its out-of-control, similar to SoCal.

Lived in chicago as a child an have visited the city many, many times. I really like it. Visited San Diego a few times and like it also. Visited some of the other cities, but would choose my home city, St. Louis as the best.

Reason: Location to Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Forest Park and the Zoo. Muny Opera, the greatest outdoor musical shows! Colleges and Universities are superb. Wonderful restaurants. And then highways take you to some of the best scenic areas. Missouri has everythng but the oceans. However, many lakes!

That is a very bizarre and subjective list of places to choose from.

I, too, chose NYC as I was born and raised there (Bronx and Staten Island) 29 great years. Nothing compares to the energy of NYC.

I have been to 14 on the list and picked San Diego because you can enjoy many outdoor activities there year round and it is a very dog friendly city. I was born in Orlando and lived in New Orleans for 4 years, those 2 were a "been there done that" for me. We go to Boston all the time and NYC every couple of years... love them both, but picked a warmer climate.

I would've picked NY or Chi but DC wasn't on there. I picked San Francisco.

San Diego the best place to raise a family.
Americas finest city if you can afford it.
