Boise, Idaho has a zoo but no amusement park, it's closer to Lagoon in Utah (5 hours) than it is to Silverwood Theme Park in northern Idaho (over 7 hours).
Anchorage, Alaska has an indoor water park and a zoo but no outdoor amusement park or mountain coaster. Alaska being the coldest state will be the main argument but mountain coasters can run in the dead of snowy winter days, and even a small collection of outdoor amusement rides can run from May through September.
Wow, those last 3 surprised me! No zoos! For real...interesting...
The largest walk-through zoo in the world is less than two hours from Charlotte, so there's really no reason for the city to build something that would compete with it. I'm not terribly surprised that Las Vegas doesn't have a zoo because it isn't really a place people go to see animals. I am surprised that Austin doesn't have one though.

North Carolina seems to have a different approach to zoo locations than most other states. Instead of having each of the state's cities run their own zoos, they run a state zoo that is near the geographic center of the state. Las Vegas used to have a zoo, it closed down in September 2013. Austin actually does have a zoo.
Boston doesn't have an amusement park, Canobie Lake Park in the Nashua, NH area and 6 Flags in Springfield. Boston does have a zoo, but I wouldn't put it up against a lot of other cities zoo's, I've been to Cinci and Seattle, they're both better than Boston's Franklin Park or Stoneham Zoo.
Agreed, have been to both the Franklin Park and Stone Zoos, and neither are very good. In fact, is there even a good zoo in New England? Have been to the Forest Park Zoo in Springfield and Roger Williams Zoo in Providence, and wasn’t much taken with them, either.
Cincinnati’s Zoo is excellent, have been in past and really enjoyed it. Large and well maintained. Also liked the one in New Orleans. My favorites in the US are the Bronx Zoo and the two San Diego parks, the San Diego Safari Park and San Diego Zoo.
Colorado Springs has one of the best zoos in the country with Cheyenne Mountain. The rest, kind of lame. You've got Santa's Workshop (kiddie park) up the hill, meh. Best bet is Eliches in Denver, about an hour away.
