I'd say Billings is Wyoming North. It's far from being like Colorado. Butte really doesn't strike me as Wyoming. It's in a class all of its own. Quite a unique city. I do agree with your assessment of Missoula and Great Falls.
Fair enough, as my post was meant to be "tongue-in-cheek". I would say that Butte has a big history of mining, that is why I compared it with Wyoming. Billings was once a big oil/energy city, as is Denver, as for that comparison. But this is all in fun. Montana is a great State with many attributes, but the cities, with the possible exception of Billings, really are not significant in the big picture. (Though kudos to the big University towns of Missoula and Bozeman).
- Cold (I'm okay with it as long as the skies are sunny fairly often)
- Isolated (personally dislike)
- Lots of Freedom but still diverse in personalities.
Someday, I need to do a trip to Montana. That state always looked so beautiful, whenever I researched it for myself! Missoula especially looks like a nice smaller city.
