The Montclair of California is probably Culver City. It's only 10% black, but that's pretty high for LA and it has a wealthy black neighborhood bordering Ladera in Los Angeles. I don't consider the other wealthy areas to be very integrated though. Most of the black people in Culver City live in the eastern parts bordering south LA.
We actually do have a Montclair in the area, but I don't know how wealthy it is. It neighbors Claremont (Montclair/Claremont, get it?) which is wealthier and a college town, but I don't know much about it.
What about places previously mentioned like Carson or Altadena?

Carson doesn't really have any wealthy areas, it's all working class/middle class. Black people in Carson are historically the wealthiest demographic and it's one of the few diverse cities in the country where that's the case. I'm not sure if that's still true, but maybe it is. Most black people in Carson live on the north side, which borders Compton. The whole city has had a gang problem, but like everywhere in LA, much less than in the past.
I considered Altadena, but I've never even been there. Back in the day my ex used to get her hair braided by a girl there and she thought that it was ghetto. I always assumed that it had a wealthy part and a poor part, maybe based on elevation, but I really don't know.
For Cornelius, the vibe is right... but the numbers are really low. Cornelius is 92% white, whereas in Montclair there is a large African American population (28%)... Both Cornelius and Davidson seem like the right vibe (especially Davidson; its pretty liberal thanks to Davidson College)... but they are both white dominated suburbs... Weddington is very wealthy but more sparsely populated and also very white as well... Harrisburg has a larger AA population but isn't as wealthy as Davidson or Montclair... It's kind of hard to find this balance in Charlotte, as most of the AA population in the metro lives in areas on the East and West sides of the city that aren't as prominent as areas like Montclair

I stand corrected. Harrisburg may have a better case, given its more diverse than Cornelius, Davidson, and Weddington, but the feel or vibe is off. It doesn't have near the same feel as Montclair and is less stately, and the neighborhoods in Harrisburg are generally the usual cooke-cutter suburbs that you see in the Sun Belt. Great places to live, but not great for uniqueness and quality like Montclair.

Agreed. Black transplants to metro Charlotte seem to mostly prefer Charlotte itself and don't really have any favored suburbs of sorts.
Valley Stream and Baldwin in SE Nassau County are two very diverse places with a high percentage of black residents (~30%) and good schools that would fit the bill.
Wheatley Heights in Suffolk County is another place I know of that would work as well. It's a smaller middle- class neighborhood with a large black presence that feeds into a very good school district formed by several communities,
Another Detroit area township that comes close in terms of criteria minus a town center/Downtown next to the previously mentioned Farmington/Farmington Hills: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...l-district-mi/
Portions are in the Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Farmington, Pontiac, Walled Lake and Waterford SD’s.
It is known for its Jewish population and for being a community where many professional athletes live. Has a growing Chaldean(Iraqi, has a relatively big presence in the metro) and Japanese populations as well.

Wheatley Heights(57.7% black) is in the town of Babylon and the very good Half Hollow Hills SD. Same with the similar Belmont Lake area in northern West Babylon(CDP) and primarily North Babylon SD. Deer Park is another good SD with a good degree of cultural diversity in the town: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...l-district-ny/
NY State’s community with the highest black percentage in Lakeview(CDP) at 79%(an overall median household income of just under $140,000) is in the town of Hempstead(Malverne SD). West Hempstead is another good and diverse SD/community in the town: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...l-district-ny/ So, pretty much, if you are looking for a middle class community with a substantial to predominantly black population and/or a diverse, good SD on Long Island, your best bets are largely within these 2 towns.
