I am looking for the following criteria for me to move to.
1 must be able to live nicely on $175,000 a year
2 a walkable neighborhood
3 nice all year weather
4 a place with good access to NYC either within a two hour drive or with many cheap flights a day
5 I would prefer access to a pool of collige graduates for a business I might start

I guess your definition of "nicely" is way different than mine. On $175k per year, I could manage pretty high on the hog! But then, I'm a small town woman with relatively simple tastes. (If you don't count my high dollar kitchen and spice rack!)
costs are just crazy high in NYC $1000 a month health insurance, high taxes and still crazy housing. I mean i know we can certainly make it on $175,000 but it could be much better else where. Also my son will be in a private jewish school which is running about $10,000 a year for a four year old. BTW we do not live in Manhattan where I know people paying $20,000 tuition for four year olds.
You might try some areas of Virginia. But stay away from DC. Way too expensive too. You might look at a place like Fredericksburg which is about 45 miles south of DC. I think that meets most of the criteria you've listed.

I agree, particularly Charlottesville and Harrisonburg...both college towns, but Harrisonburg being the more conservative of the two.

Um look into my area in SEPA. It's not cheap, but it's not NY absurd like that is. Very high Jewish population and great Jewish day schools (I know, I went to one...)
How can any place be within 2 hrs driving distance of NYC and still have good warm weather? The closest I can think of is the D.C area. It is is relativley close to NYC and you can always hop on a plane or take the train up to New York. You can definitley make it in D.C making 175,000 dollars a year and D.C is a mecca for young people looking for work. D.C has slightly better weather then NY but not by much.
