ok-process of elimination. Which places would you not want to live- and why?.

I choose:

1. Orlando- overcrowded, plastic, no history, horrific traffic

2. Richmond, Virginia- just doesnt look good to me

3. Philly- I havent heard good things about it, houses I have seen for sale remind me of Queens NY (600k for a 100 yr old rat infested house)

4. Mobile Alabama- 'nuff said

5. Atlanta- heard its overcrowded, becoming the new south Florida

6. Charlotte NC (same reasons)

7. Newark, NJ

8. L.A. (I liked Santa Monica though, so wont discount it)

I dont have many west coast cities yet- I am trying to eliminate areas I dislike, to plan the next move. Any comments welcome! I do need more input from any west coast people!!

Sunny

San Francisco (yuck)...

And I'm just really nervous about moving anywhere out of the south because I'm afraid that they won't have any or all of the things that I'm used to. I'd be worried about finding a good hair dresser (East Coast stylists seem to be pretty bland), a church like the ones I'm used to, and all of the food ingredients, dishes, and places to eat that are exclusive to the south (or Texas for that matter).

I honestly feel that the west is out of the question, but if someone told me that I had to live in the northeast it most definitely would have to be New York. Only they don't have a Marble Slab, so that's one way the suck, lol.

1. Terre Haute, Indiana
2. Indianapolis, Indiana
3. Gary, Indiana
4. Cedar Rapids, Iowa
5. Zanesville, Ohio

Unhappy Ugly Cities

My Ugly City List:
-Waterloo, Iowa- many gray looking buildings, and many houses that looked vacant and rundown.
-Ironwood, Michigan- dilaphidated main strip, abandoned businesses and stores everywhere.
-Olathe, Kansas- no character, cookie cutter houses, strip malls everywhere. Disgusting McMansion suburbia personified to a T.
-Saint Joseph, Missouri- historic downtown, but unfortunately reminds me of the rust belt way too much in terms of overall flavor.

I would add most of Nassau County- there are some nice towns (Roslyn) but overpriced- I should have named this thread cities which are un-liveable
Albany

Binghamton, NY

No one with west coast info?

I think Phoenix is ugly but some people like it.

It's dusty and full of strip malls and tract homes. Stucco and dusty, dirty empty lots everywhere it seems. But the cactus are neat.

How can you dismiss a city as "ugly" if you've never been there?

I don't think there's any place that's flat-out ugly. Even Gary, Ind. -- which arguably could be one of the least attractive cities in the United States and yes, I have been there -- is on Lake Michigan, which is beautiful.
