I left off San Fran because a lot of the city isn't built out of brick.

There isn't too many brick buildings left in SF. Actually you really won't see too many big brick buildings on the West Coast because they are very dangerous during earthquakes.

During the 1989 earthquake in SF many people were killed because of falling brick buildings.

Downtown San Antonio has a lot of buildings from the early 1900's that are made of brick sent over from the east coast.

Certainly Chicago - the city mandated that it be rebuilt with brick after the fire in 1871 burnt 2/3 of the city down.

For some reason, the term "Brick City" aka Newark is a title that lost it's true meaning somehow.

I heard that it's because of the bricks that were thrown in Newark during the 60s riots, I heard that it's because of the crack epidemic where Newark was infamous for it's "bricks" of crack, and I also heard that it's because of the common brick projects found in a lot of the city.
