Hi everyone. My family and I currently live in Las Vegas and we all dislike it here, I don't see any point in listing all the reasons why. We want to move somewhere we actually will enjoy living, but I am just overwhelmed at the amount of places I have to consider—I'm still in the very early stages of relocating. If anyone can help me out a little, or at least help narrow my options down I would greatly appreciate it.
Here's what we'd like:
-A place near (but not in!) a big city of at least 500,000 (for business reasons.)
-A place with four seasons.
-We'd like a mid-sized house with a few wooded acres (the more the better) with privacy, peace, and quiet for around $200-$250,000. A stream/lake/river on or near the property would be nice as well. (we're trying to separate ourselves from the desert as much as possible)
-Preferably low taxes.
So far I've been looking at a few states but I really don't know much about any of them at the moment besides the things on Wikipedia. I will take any suggestions into consideration!
Minneapolis-St. Paul sounds like it would be somewhere that you'd like. We have a good economy, four seasons, and lots of woods and lakes. Taxes are pretty high, but not as high as New York or California.
Thanks for the suggestions! From their Wikipedia articles it seems both get quite a bit of rain. We're hoping for a place that isn't miserably wet too, or extremely humid.
Most of the time, you need rain to get streams, lakes, rivers, and woods, and most places with true four seasons (and woods) get a substantial amount of rain (and snow).
