We currently live in Macon and my husband works from home but goes 1 day a week to Buckhead and needs access to the airport on occassion. We are trying to decide is it better to move to Monroe County, go up in house payment (300 to 400 range) and send the kids to private school or move totally to say Peachtree City areas where we go even higher in house payment but public schools are good so no private school needed???? We have looked north of Atlanta and love Alpharetta and Cherokee County but the traffic and cost of houses we can't decide if that is worth it.

I am wondering does anyone know if they are going to be building anything around Exit 205 in Monroe County???Publix or shopping? I have heard there is a mall going in somewhere around there but just can't find any info on it? Please let me know if you know of anything going up around in North or South Monroe---we visited River Forest and the new Adamsville Park but there is NOTHING around!!!!

Thanks in advance--my family and I appreciate it!

You won't go wrong with a move to Peachtree City. It is well worth the $$ and you will save not having to go private.

Exit 205 is Butts County and so is 201 I believe. I think Monroe is like 198 or 188 or something like that. I agree with Ptcgirl. We are looking to move to PTC next year. You can still get a decent house for $250-300 in PTC. Many of the houses are older (1980s) but they are better built than a lot of the newer homes for similar prices today! And yes, you will save thousands of dollars a year not sending your kids to private schools!
And by the way, there is NOTHING in Butts County around those exits and nor are there any plans for anything. You would probably have to go to Griffin for things or Macon.

Thanks for the advice. We are now looking and timing the commutes from Fayette County and north of Atlanta in Cherokee (Holly Springs) and South Forsyth County (Cumming). We have been looking online and checking with a realtor too. This board has helped alot. Any one not like those areas?

Default Monroe County Help Deciding

PTC too crowded. Fayettville is nice but GA 85 is over crowded in the morning and afternoons. Griffin is the same way. Northside of ATL is getting overbuilt too. It is hard to find a county that plans well. PTC did, but try to get through the major intersections can be chaos. Also, look out for those golf car(t)s.... they are out of control there.

We are thinking of moving to Monroe County. Are the schools really that bad? What's bad about them? Schooldigger gives them pretty good ratings.
