It is a good idea to register online all pedophiles, molesters, rapists, murders, prostitutes, drunk drivers, druggies, physical abusers, and maybe a few more. Might shame them all into a decent citizen, and prevent a lot of decent citizens from being shamed.

The first four should be lifetime sentences. The last four should get three strike laws.

Interesting thing, in some states some drug offenders do have to register, but are not on the 'net. If I remember correctly it's the dealers/manufactures that have to register. Hmmm, people that make/distribute drugs that kill/ruin kids just as bad if not worse than any sex offender and nary a word? Why might tha be.

Yeah, good question...and drunk drivers as well, damage far more FAMILIES than sex abuse but they don't have to register.
But goodness, get caught with your willie out taking a leak behind a tree and you've had it

"Convicted paedophile" is a malapropism. Paedophilia is a psychiatric condition, not a criminal offense.

Some people who molest children are not paedophiles; some paedophiles never molest anyone.

So yesterday there was a report of multiple child molestations at a Lutheran school in CA. It was reportedly between 5-6 year old boys and girls in the school and on the playground. While sad let me ask y'all "how did that S.O. list work for them and their parents?
Point being that it isn't the people on the list you've got to worry about and having public access to that list doesn't/didn't save anyone.

Again I can see police having access, they are paid to know how to process and deal with the information.

No, because it will only result in public urinators and 18 year olds who had consensual sex with their 17 year old girlfriends getting lynched/stalked/harrassed.

Where I grew up (in a tiny community where everybody knew everybody else and knew everything about everybody else) there were between 0 and 2 paedos.

Neither had been convicted.

One was of 'modest' means the other was moderately famous (and fairly wealthy, too.)

Everybody knew who they were, everybody knew where they lived and that was that.

Three was no need for 'society', the law', 'my dad', or anybody else to get on their case. Our parents knew who they were, they knew that our parents knew.

Why would someone who is not a pedophile molest children?

Prostitutes and drug users don't affect others (unless the druggie is stealing or whatever).
