Great Debates does allow for the duplication of topics, although not exact duplications of a specific thread, from other forums as this is a style based forum which makes the trajectory of threads very different here than in other forums. That is not why this thread was closed. It was closed because the topic was not presented in the proper manner. The opening post needs to include a summary of the debate and preferably also have the OP's opinion. A thread with this type of opening post belongs in Elections, and there is already a post over there like this. This topic can have a thread here restarted provided it has a proper opening post.
