Proof: All the people who illegally smoked MJ or consumed edibles to combat the side effects of chemo (pain and loss of appetite) and yet died anyway.

But let's say someone figures out that a chemical in cannabis is the mythical "cure" for all cancers. We've already repeatedly proven that a burn-and-inhale-the-smoke delivery system won't cure cancer, and neither will the bake-cannabis-oil-into-brownie-and-eat delivery system. So this chemical must be isolated, refined, and combined with some other delivery system. All of the processes can be patented, which means profits.

Remember, as stated earlier in this thread, many modern drugs sold for profit are simply isolated and refined substances that occur naturally (taking a Bayer aspirin is so much simpler and effective than boiling willow bark; getting penicillin from the pharmacy is so much simpler than growing and processing bread mold; etc.).

Throughout history people have tried every conceivable method in an attempt to cure cancer. If some cheap natural substance could cure cancer it would have been found and documented centuries ago; long before "big pharma" even existed. Yet again, the "suppressed cancer cure" logic falls apart when you expose it to reality.
Not to mention that if someone were to actually use the plant itself, since it's hard to really know how much active ingredient is in each plant, the results could range from ineffective to poisonous.
