For the last couple of decades we've had a steady diet of who the "enemy" is. We've seen it in films, in the news, on the evening talk shows. It's those old or middle-aged white guys who like guns. Especially if they're from the country. Then they're really, really the bad guys.

Given the current situation I'd say we've been had.

Lots of law enforcement and also FBI in my family. I understand the need for firearms.

Just don’t like amateurs wandering around with guns.
I feel the same about the ignorant and computers.

You'd be surprised to learn lots of LEO's are poor shots who only shoot when they have to qualify, while the "amateurs" hold all the titles for speed and accuracy and shoot often because they enjoy it.

You should give it a try sometime and then you wouldn't be so afraid of guns.

However, homes for the mentally ill are in very short supply, especially if that person is poor or homeless. It's a big problem. It seems most homeless have mental problems of some sort. Getting them off the streets would be a huge plus for our cities, but no politicians seem to want to deal with that.
Police are not really trying to help the homeless though, all they are doing is looking for some reason they can arrest or detain them. Their main objective seems to be removing the homeless from certain areas, (where they are not wanted, people do not want to look at them).

Housing homeless people in jails, just because there is no other place to put them is WRONG on so many levels too.
