Just thought we could use a thread on this subject. Rather than posting in the Pot thread. Please continue the "debate".
I personally feel that there is no debate. I think evolution is a fact.

This debate has been going on forever in the Religion thread. Personally, I would have to go with evolution, then I would have to ask, does it really matter where we came from, does knowing where we came from tell us anything about where we are going?

Sorry I didn't know there was already a thread. I did a search. I just got tired of some nOObs hijacking the pot thread. Good point on where we are all going though.

For the people who believe in creationism, if it is true, then it absolutely tells them where they think they are going. (heaven, hell) If creationism is not true, it kind of blows some big time holes in their faith and other "rules" that they try to pass off as fact or at least as morally superior.

believing creationism (God created everything in its current form, there were no dinosaurs, etc) above evolution is a clear sign of lesser intelligence. PERIOD.
That said, whether there is a God or not is a whole other question, but there has not been a way to prove there is one, however having been raised a catholic I just somehow have a hard time throwing the possibility of our heavenly almighty out of my head...Although any logical reasoning tells me he is about as real as santa-claus or the boogeyman

Understanding evolution has application. Medicine is a good example.

It helps when you do this,, if you are being sarcastic, which I get the feeling you were.

BTW I am one of the nicer ones around here.

Well, I'm new to this forum but not forums in general. I know that smilies can be applied to convey a message. I tend to not use them.

I don't understand it, creationism basically points that things that are here now have always been so and always will be so the exact same...which is pretty much disproven pretty quickly or else there would be no antibiotic resistant diseases (or chicken flu). It also would be a terrible thing, because if nothing could evolve or change in reponse to their enviroment...no one would ever have a resistance to diseases and microbes.

I always think its funny when people say "Evolution is just a theory" as though the existence of a god that created everything in one week is a fact.
