And that doesn't even count the deaths that were not recognized as homicides. About a third of known homicides are never solved.
Several yes ago, the San Francisco paper reported (I'm taking this from memory) that of about 90 known homicides so far that year, the police didn't even have a suspect in about 87 of them.
Personally, I would have to be absolutely 'sure' that I was reporting a truthful situation, instead of some one boasting that he/she did this or that, because they want to appear bigger than life, or had a boring life and want someone to think that they are 'somebody'. I would especially watch out for people who lie so much that they actually believe in what they say...(yea, I met people like that, and they are really pathetic in thier lies, as they lead the most boring life and want to BE someone...but, never really grow up to accomplish anything, or what they have accomplish, isnt what they want to be, so they have to gradulize thier lives to appear bigger than life.
People are not always what they appear to be, and not all can be believed. Its your call...
Oh...did someone get a ticket recently and decide all police are bad? Or...did you get your stereo stolen, and the police wouldn't call out the CSI team to investigate? Ask yourself this... If it was your family member and someone could provide information to give you closure, would you want them to do it? There are tip lines, and it would never go to court anyhow (should the story be CORROBORATED) because the guy is apparently dead.
NO and I dont need tickets to know what a waste of human flesh those donut munching domestic terrorists are. But you are close. I have made attempts to report crimes but they do not respond. It's more profitable to shake down innocent motorists for money then it is to respond to a break-in.
A rat is a rat is a rat. I will not call those fat azzed pigs under any circumstances. If I dont like something I see then I will choose if I want to stop it or if I am capable of stopping it or walk away. I carry and I can fight. I do not need to call mommy everytime I see something wrong. There are weak people and there are strong people. There are leaders and there are followers. The weak followers will call mommy everytime the neighbor calls them a name. The strong leaders will handle it either by words or by fist.
So lose the attitude and learn your enemy. The pigs are not your friend. To win you need to know who the enemy is. The only thing more dangerous then a pig are those who like and trust a pig.

But that puts the responsibility on you to pre-investigate befotre the professionals ever gets called in, which puts you directly in the path of the legal steamroller marked "EVIDENCE TAMPERING." Even asking questions can alert/cause the guilty to destroy evidence or pay hush money to witnesses. I would still go ahead and report it, but I would be sure to tell the police that the person I heard the information from is basically a blowhard and not that trustworthy. The thing is, even a chronic liar tells the truth sometimes. And a blowhard would unfailingly jump at the chance to blow hard about something REAL he knew about.
Well my friend made a good point. Her point is that if my husband was killed in a hit and run, I might think "oh wow, how terrible, sad, sad... " and then get on with my life. If 10 years later a policeman shows up at my door and says, "well, we found the guy who killed your husband, he's dead by the way. Oh, and also, he ran him over because he was Irish". Well now how would I feel? Not only does the guy get away with murder, but I will also learn that he did it for real stupid reasons. Does it really make any sense to offer resolution in this case? And yes, anyone to do that has major issues and makes me ill to my stomach. For what it's worth, I don't know these people nor do I hang out with their kind.
He wouldn't be getting away with it if they figure out who he is. Just because he won't be prosecuted due to the circumstances, it doesn't mean he got away with it. If they never find out who did it, they will always assume the person got away with it though.

A lot of people don't like cops until they need one.
