If you want to get technical there is no physical way Obama can shut off the border or stop people from travelling to Mexico since Dubya as Governor & Prez couldn't or wouldn't do it either. The vast majority of the people infected are Americans who travelled to Mexico and brought it home not Mexicans bringing it over here.

The democrats in Congress and some "republicans" like Lindsey Gramnesty are trying to push amnesty again, but this time in smaller baby steps so nobody notices, and the President of course is going along! You talk about under the radar, our idiot evil congressmen are trying to secure more votes for themselves by legalizing illegal aliens. Obama's Homeland Security director Janet Napolitano (a nutjob in and of herself) has recently been stated as saying it is not a crime to cross the border without authorization! Our homeland security director! And Canada is currently tightening its border to protect its citizens against foreign flus like this, and they are more socialist than we are! America and the Obama administration and lawmakers are so backward right now, they should all resign! Nancy Pelosi gave a speech to Mexicans in San Fran saying it was unpatriotic for Americans to want to send them back and it was unpatriotic to enforce border laws and separate them from their families by sending illegals back!
Does any of this bother anyone beside me?!?!
I still think this flu outbreak is a little overplayed, but it sure highlights our border problems and how the new administration/current lawmakers handle everything!
What about LEGALS? I worked with two little girls who were Mexican Americans. They were both born here and their PARENTS were born here. Yet, they still had grandparents (moved back to Mexico) and family there. These families went back and forth several times a year between Mexico and the US. They could afford to because they owned their own businesses here in Florida and were hardly poor.
You would stop them from going to Mexico to see their families? Don't US CITIZENS have the right to travel outside the USA?
There was the first DEATH reported today in Florida; a toddler whose family had been to Mexico. There are at least 3 cases reported. My guess would be there are probably more that aren't being reported so "panic" doesn't set it. Yesterday morning, there was a boy in HS who kept saying that his DAD (works in a hospital) told him they are bringing in cases with it. Staff told him to "shut up" and not let it out.
I had salmonella posioning last year during that outbreak with the tomatoes/peppers. It was NOT REPORTED by any of the medical personnel at the facility where I went. They asked me NOTHING about where I had eaten, etc. My case went UNDER THE RADAR. It would not surprise me that this swine flu is not being swept under the rug.

First of all we need to need the law that if you are born here you are an automatic citizen.
Yes, we need to quarantine anyone and everyone from going to Mexico.
Until we have this under control, no more travel to or from the point or origin of the disease.
As far as Cheney goes, just shows how darn smart the man is to have invested in business that will be needing something they produce. Thank Cheney if we end up needing what he has to offer and was smart enough to invest in it for us.

He wants to downplay this because we all know if it is talked about coming from Mexico then people will FINALLY WAKE up and close that damn Mexican border and send all illegals home where they belong.

The World Health Organization; located in Geneva, Switzerland, not President Obama, changed the level. The level was increased due to its GLOBAL spread. President Obama does not run WHO or have a say in the alert level. He did indeed say to be concerned but not to panic. As much as you dislike an African American Democrat running the country....you can thank GWBs time as Governor of TX & his wasted 8yrs of making up lies to control oil in why the border situation is they way it is.

And closing the border would hinder the illegals who do the cheap labor in FL & most FL retirees enjoy the cheap lawn mowing service they receive from the person they hand over $10 to who doesn't speak a word of English & lives 15 to a home in a shack in Lake Okeechobee. Some of us use lawn services that don't hire illegals. The one I use is a guy and his son, born and raised here in the USA.
I oppose illegal immigration, but I'm not going to condemn every person who might be of Hispanic origin that I see on the street as illegal, because there are a great many who are here quite legally.
I refuse to make the swine flu situation into a racial or political issue. Last I knew, viruses don't know where a border begins and ends.
