Really? Hey, I voted for Obama but it takes a sadly partisan view to look at a Democratic house, senate and presidency and walk away blaming the republicans and "conservatives" lol for it not coming to fruition yet. Really, re-read your sentence....you VOTED for these people....hold them accountable. Right now all you are doing is making excuses.

If you vote for them and they don't come through for you (maybe they will, it's not over yet) when they have the power to do so...you need to re-evaluate instead of making excuses so that you can still be vindicated that it isn't "your team" that just gave you the shaft.

I mean, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? Promise healthcare...promise to bring the troops home...you don't actually have to deliver apparently.

My choice for President was Hillary Clinton. Obama was just the lesser of two evils.

Oh, you are so wrong.

City Center is HIRING - and HIRING 1000's - right now. Go to their website - and take a look.

You are only making excuses now.

Where did we ever get on this train where everyone suddenly deserves the same 'x' as everyone else?

I mean, isn't that why we work hard, save, make sacrifices? So we'll be better off? Instead, now everyone 'deserves' stuff they haven't done a damn thing to earn.

Free health care will prolong your life? Yeah? So will a personal trainer and nutritionist. Probably even more so. Why aren't we shelling out for that?

This is getting really old.

Sure, I have absolutely no casino experience, so I have no chance of getting a job there when they have 150,000 applicants for 12,000 positions. Nice try, try again with something that is actually feasible.

They have 1000's of jobs that are NOT RELATED to the casino.

AND, you certainly won't get a job there - or ANYWHERE, unless you apply!

Why should quality healthcare have to be earned? That insinuates that it is a payment or compensation or recognition for favorable behavior. Driving a car is a privilege that has to be earned, getting quality medical treatment should not be something that has to be earned. Earning something also means that it can be taken away for contrary behavior or that one has to provide a service to become initially eligible.

earn : (verb) 1. to receive as a return for service 2. deserve; merit

So you are saying that some people do not deserve or merit quality healthcare. I fail to understand what the connection is between getting quality healthcare and what type of job you have or how hard you work. Some people work their fingers to the bone and get no health insurance; which many times is through no fault of their own. Some people were born into rich and powerful families, went to great schools behind their legacy, had money given them to start a business, failed at that business, and then through nepotism and favors were given cushy jobs with bonus' and free medical insurance. Did they earn that?

Food, shelter, clothing, safety, education, and medicine go hand in hand. They are basic human necessities that should not have to be "earned." The hungry and homeless are sent to soup kitchens and shelters. Should we now make them "earn" those services? Anybody who calls the police department will receive their services. Should we stop that and only allow certain police services to those who have earned them? All children have the right to go to a public school so they can receive an adequate education. Should we scrap that approach? Should we reward "better" students who have worked harder and therefore have "earned" the privilege of a better ecucation.

Can you please answer those questions? If not, can you explain to me why you feel there should be a double-standard concerening healthcare? Can you also explain to me specifically why you think healthcare should not be a right, but rather something that should be earned. You have made some pretty serious insinuations in your post but did not further explain said insinuations. Care to elaborate the position you espouse?

Isn't this exactly what we have under the current system? The very poor are already treated for free and have been.

Whatabout those who have a chronic condition through no fault of their own?

They can get acute care in a hospital emergency room (at taxpayer expense ultimately), which is a very expensive way to treat chronic conditions. Plus, ultimately chronic conditions need to be treated chronically, not acutely. How about the guy with high blood pressure who can't afford to pay for his medication, consequently ends up in the emergency with a stroke, gets $100k worth of free care involving surgery, ICU, etc, then ends up discharged still without the ability to pay for blood pressure medication.

Perhaps the answer is to deny free care at emergency rooms and let the poor die in the street?
