Inventing, improving and moving towards mass use of solar and wind energy production.A close second is butterscotch and chocolate pudding. When do i receive my prize.I have obviously aced this question.
I produce massive amounts of CO2 which promotes plant life. I would have expected the planet to be appreciative but I've yet to get a "thank you" from mother earth.
You are correct of course, but the question is, Have we done anything to help the planet, since we hear all the time how much harm we are supposed to be doing to it. Your point is right on the money---what ever we do, has no affect on the planet what so ever. It's a big rock covered with some water, and variety of life forms, that come and go through the ages. Only in our arrogance, do we feel we matter one way or the other.
I would suggest that you consider that in a mere geological blink we have gone from being one of "the beasts" to being capable of detecting and deflecting a comet that would otherwise cause another 95%+ global extinction.
We are also quite reasonably going to be able to colonize and perhaps even teraform other planets in a few thousand years.
Sure, we have a long way to go but lets not underestimate just how big our roll actually might be.
Conservation? Preservation? Genocide? Homicide? War? The last three are all direct and indirect forms of population control. Earth Day? LOL This thread has some funny posts in it by the way, LOL, like the one about drilling a hole in the Earth so it can fart. Ahahaahahaha! Oh yea! I thought of another thing we did for the planet! We developed space programs that make it possible to intercept meteors or asteroids, so the Earth doesn't get hit, we are protecting it. We also gave it useable horse and cow manure so that the Earth can do its thing and grow plants and crops.

So in the future we can kill & pollute other planets too! Oh goody!
