I heard in some states they collect fee for dropping off e-waste. my question is, is it right that we should fee for dropping off our e-waste, or does it apply to all kind of waste, and if so, how much?

We have periodic events for people to dispose of those items not taken by the garbage/recycling company by residential or commercial collectors. Ours does not charge for E-waste. They charge only for a few specific items such as car tires, and water heaters. You can drop off as many computers, monitors, and TVs as you want at no charge. There are also places that will come to the home and pick them up free. They will remove the precious metals and base metals and that not only recovers their cost but makes money for them.

That is because your government pays the fee. Then charges you double thru taxation.

Yes, our property tax is over $6,000/year, but then we have great services, no crime, and great schools so we're happy.

I am without waste service for about 8 years now and do fine. It's a damn monopoly here, Allied Waste, was about the most unreliable service I am aware of. So I got tired of it.
I think, I also saved quite some bucks by not paying them.
See, I am not fist tight. I do not mind paying for good service. I do mind paying for crappy one and have no options. That I do.
