I'm traveling through to Chapel Hill/Durham area from WV traveling on I 77 and I'm getting different directions on the internet. Some sites have me take Business I 40 through the area and other sites have me take I 40 through the area.
Which is a better choice. We will be traveling any time between noon on a Friday and 4 pm on a Friday.
Can you please advise me as to what route to take

Thanks

This post may be too late: Bus 40 is shorter but gets jammed up during rush hour as does 52. I-40 does not back up as much.

Yes, but I77 to I40 vs I77 to future I74(mt airy/us52), is an added 20/25 miles. If it's not 5-5:30, then the traffic from 52 to Bus 40 is hardly a problem. But it is worth mentioning the "congestion" if coming through around then.

Didn't mean to imply OP come I77 to I40, just suggesting to skip Bus 40 during rush hour. All a moot point now.

You wouldn't need to go all the way to I-40 on I-77. You'd take US 421 instead. This route to the US 52/Bus. 40 intersection is only about 15 miles longer than the US 52 route, so this is a viable option given all the construction on US 52. In addition, this route gives you the option of taking I-40 around Winston-Salem rather than Bus. 40, so you'll miss any downtown congestion.

I'd say take I-40--by the way-421 is basically the same thing as 40
