I have been reading this forum for the past 4 mos. or so and it has been quite helpful however I am hoping to get some answers to my specific questions.
I am a young black single female with two young school aged children. My main goal right now is finishing up my undergrad degree and live comfortably which I havent been able to do in NJ. I am looking at attending NCCU,NC&AT, UNCG or WSSU. My preference is probably NCA&T. My goal is to live in a decent(doesnt have to be the best)neighborhood as my kids will attend public school. Since I will be in school FULL-TIME i cannot work fulltime(tried that and its not working). I want to purchase a house either with cash around $30,000 or mortgage a home no more than $60,000. With this arrangement I would either be able to work minimally maybe 20 hours a week and fit school into my schedule without worrying about after hour daycare. With the 4 schools that I am looking to attend what would be the most feasible place to do this? Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point or Durham??? I guess i prefer to live right in one of these cities so commuting isnt an issue for school or work...Keep in mind it'll be just my kids and I...with no other help. Thanks in advance!
I currently live in NJ and we're being transferred to Greensboro in June. I'm going to end up going back to school for my masters and will most likely attend UNCG. I can't really help with your question but $30,000 for a house? Really!?
No Kidding. I like to search for houses on Moderator cut: removed If you look in both Greensboro and Winson-Salem you will see decent looking rancher(sometimes capes or 2 stories) houses for under $60K. My only question is what kind of neighborhoods are these cheap homes in...but really the houses are decent. My next step will be to visit the police station and find out whats the real deal with these homes.
