The Arts District in downtown W-S is a must!!!!! Several neat and/or funky shops with hand-made items.
Piedmont Craftsmen (corner of 6th and Trade) has a wide price range and very high quality craftmanship. Its juried members are from all over southeastern US.

Haven't had a chance to go downtown yet, but I was able to pick up a few great gifts at the Cricket's Nest. Hadn't been in there in years, but they've got some things.
