Did a search, but seemed like most of the posts were dated and that many of the stores have gone out of business.
We recently moved to Elon, NC from WI. Back home we had access to incredible selections of Cichlids (African and South/Central American) at a numbber of shops.
Can't find any good info for 'round here. We'd also be willing to drive to Raleigh/Durham...and even Charlotte if it was a shop worth our time.
We know cichlids and aren't looking for run-of-the-mill. Currently thinking we'd like some big south or central american species for our 180 g tank that previously housed a trio of Vieja synspila and a pair of young Chocolate Cichlids (and some Crenicichla regani).
So far, the only candidate shops I've found that seem decent are:
Triangle Tropical Fish in Durham
Fintastic in Charlotte
Tropical Fish World in Raleigh
Helpful staff, good prices. I have a reef tank, so I don't pay much attention to their freshwater offerings. I know they have cichlids, but I don't know how they compare to the other places you've listed.
