What do people do in Taylors for high speed internet? I understand there is no DSL thru AT&T. The people in the Chat on the ATT website say Wild Blue Satellite Broadband is available. When I call ATT customer service they know nothing about it. The people

I'd really like to get DSL. Are there any independent contractors that could come out and set it up if I move to Taylors?

Emily, is Charter not available in Taylors? Charter is widely available in the Upstate.

Also consider wireless options from Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T.

I would strongly advise against using any satellite broadband provider unless you are desperate.

Please also note that DSL is not house specific but rather neighborhood/area dependent. One cannot have DSL "installed" in your house if the neighborhood/area is not upgraded for DSL by the local telephone carrier.

Does Charter have DSL or is it Cable and how much do you pay and what is the download speed? Right now I'm supposed to be getting 6Mbps but sometimes it is like dial-up. I was on the phone with AT&T today to complain and actually got an intelligent person to help which I haven't experienced with them in YEARS. It turns out the filter I had been using for the last few years might have been causing some of the problems.

But still, in doing my research I find that some companies provide 10, 15 and 20 Mbps download speed which makes me jealous since right now I'm paying $50/mo for a measly (effective) 5 Mbps -- if I'm LUCKY!

29 per month plus taxes and fees for 8 meg cable Internet service. It's pretty speedy. I usually average 15-20 Mbit/s downloads with uploads around 1 Mbit/s.

Ok, I had to speak with Charter because my wife usually pays the bills.

It's $34.99 per month with no taxes or fees. There is a $5.00 per month charge to lease the modem. I didn't know about the modem fee, but now that I do, I may be in the market for a cable modem.
