We are planning to go this Saturday. It's our first time so does anyone have any recommendations, such as where to park, what time is best to go, or any other comments? Thanks
We've gone the past few years and for whatever reason, it's gotten worse each year. For some very odd reason, none of the local German restaurants, Schwaben House, Hans and Franz, Bavarian Pretzel Factory and the other place on Wade Hampton, whos name escapes me right now participates in this festival. How can you have an Octoberfest and none of the local German establishments even participate? Regarding parking, the two city lots are on Poinsett, but there is parking all over downtown and the neighboring residential streets.
On a side note, by far one of the best festivals in the entire Upstate, Wingfest didn't take place this year, much to our dismay. This was a fantastic wings festival in downtown Greer, and all of the wing places participated, it was 3 wings or $1. Can't believe that didn't happen this year.

Same friends told us that Greer keeps trying to do events, but they keep dropping the ball. Doesn't surprise me that you say it's gotten worse over the years, and it being one of the events that draws people you'd think they'd get it.
We went to the BBQ festival last month, it was awful. They definitely dropped the ball ont hat one.
There's so much potential to be successful, but those who are planning these events keep dropping the ball it doesn't look good and it keeps those who would come from going to events because they know what to expect.

Let's hope they improve things.
I agree, but to their credit, this years Fourth of July festival was outstanding.
We usually go, and last year's was pretty fun. It seems to be getting more crowded, which I'm sure is good for them, but not fun when pushing a stroller.
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll make it this year. I have to work pretty much all day Saturday, and my wife is flying out Sunday, for a work journey around the frozen north (WI, MN, ND).
Just curious if anyone went, and how it was this past weekend?
