I will try Lidl again. I just don't get why people want to pay 3 times the amount stores like Ingles, BiLo, Whole Foods, etc when the quality is equal or even better at Lidl or Aldi.
Doesn't Walmart essentially still price-match, it's just through Savings Catcher?

I'm not familiar with Savings Catcher. The last I heard, they didn't price match. I'll check it out.

It's an app/website where you scan your receipt and it supposedly searches competitors' ads and will give you the difference on a gift card. I do believe they may have stopped including dollar and/or drug stores though, but I usually get about $2-$3 back on every trip.

I have visited the Lidl store on Wade Hampton a couple of times and have been somewhat underwhelmed by the experience vs the hype. Apparently I’m not the only one that has taken notice. The WSJ published a piece on Saturday outlining the first 90 days of Lidl operating in the US. Some analysts are calling the launch a “misstep” and that in order to be successful there will need to be a relaunch. I like the deep discounting strategy, but for now prefer the Aldi format.

I think that the Aldi remodels are beyond brilliant in their execution. That plays into it.

Lidl was pretty much what I expected. Now, the Irish beef was not their best move. The US head is from their Irish division, so it's understandable, but that should have been introduced after the stores were established, only to stores in communities that would move it at that price. That price stands out. Yes, it's cheaper than a flight to Ireland. Most people in the US just don't spend that kind of money on meat.

I've spoken to several people who've been to the Gastonia store. Everyone says that they like it & will go. They love the bakery. They all say that they will continue to go to the Aldi, which you can see from the Lidl parking lot. They all say it will kill the nearby Bi-Lo.

I tried the vanilla Skyr (Icelandic style yogurt). It's excellent.

It is! I'm going to get more. It's unbelievably thick. It makes Greek yogurt seem runny in comparison. Years ago, I flew to Europe on Icelandic Airlines. the food was wonderful. I'm surprised that they didn't offer Skyr.

Another things I'm noting that I don't like about Lidl, at the bakery department they don't have any small bags, if they even have bags at all (none yesterday) for a single item purchase. It's such a waste having to use these large bags when I only want to purchase 1 roll.

It seems Lidl isn't doing as good as expected in the US as mentioned by SCguy81 above. Change your ads to weekly Lidl! And please, not so much junk, offer more food items, not so many clothes by HK which don't seem to be moving given the bins and bins I noticed yesterday! Just way too much junk.
