Anyone have any new comments about Lidl products? The Shelby store is opening this Thursday & Gastonia is opening next Thursday.
How are the weekly specials compared to Aldi? (particularly the ethnic foods)
FYI, I was in Aldi on Saturday & they brought in the pumpkin chipotle & pumpkin squash pasta sauces as seasonal this year instead of just as a weekly special.
Was just there, still hate their confusing ads
Besides what I've already posted, I do like their light string mozzarella better than Aldi's but since Aldi's is closer, its usually what I get. Huge lemons were .25¢ each.
It seems Lidls average daily price on bananas are cheaper than Aldis as well as mi!k (was 1.71 gallon today) and eggs (was .32¢ today) neither one I bought, but noticed.
I think Lidl carries a lot more meat items than Aldi's.
If you love close to both stores I would suspect you'd shop at both. I livenclose to Aldis, not Lidl, and it seems I can get in and out of Aldi's like a ninja, but takes longer in Lidl.

Have fun when they open!
Thanks!!!
I live almost exactly in the middle between the Gastonia Aldi & the Shelby Aldi, but almost always go to the Gastonia Aldi. I have had a routine worked out, but will have to modify it to work in the Lidl.
I find that I'm in Aldi longer since the remodel. I'm getting used to the new layout now, as well as all of the new products. Give Lidl 6 months to a year & I suspect that the weird sales thing will be simplified. They haven't opened the Cecil County distribution center yet. When they hit the reality of Baltimore & Philadelphia I think that they'll back off that. The store openings on the 21st & 28th will be the first in the Charlotte market, but still none open in Charlotte proper.
I've been told that Aldi is looking to open one or two more stores to take the pressure off the Gastonia Aldi. They came looking in my town 2 or 3 years ago but Walmart swooped in & built a Neighborhood Market. I hope they come back. The Shelby Lidl will likely be swamped with people from Rutherford County.

Can't remember where we were going through, but saw a bldg under construction last week that looked like a Lidl, but the sign said Aldi. The roof was arched like Lidls.
Lidl has more non-food items than Aldi. This week its a ton of tools have nt found a thing frozen I would try. I take that back, I bought some potato waffles yesterday.
If Lidl made their ads weekly I would be more inclined to go more often. Would love if they overlapped their weekly ads to have 1 day with 2 weeks. Wishful thinking.

I was going through the Lidl ads on their website yesterday. It's long & complicated, for sure. Now I know that the sale week starts on Thursday, at least. This Thursday I saw that the Heidi Klum clothing line will debut. That was a first for me. Celebrity clothing at a grocery store. . . A couple of items looked nice enough but. . .it's a grocery store!!! I think that they had a sizing chart. They haven't learned to just go with small, medium, large. . .There's going to be a learning curve. Aldi has been in this country since the 70s. They know us. Trader Joe's is Germans paired with Americans. Lidl will learn.
I think it was next week's ad that, as I scrolled, it said that the nationality of the week was Irish & British. I though, OK, there must be oatmeal. If they try to sell us haggis and steak & kidney pie, that won't go over well. I was thinking it must be lots of potatoes. Nope, nope, & nope. It wasn't memorable, but I think it was mostly candy.
I really like their instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal as well as their chocolate cookies that are comparable to oreos. Also I get pig ear pieces there for the dog. The majority of their treats are either made in USA or made in EU so you know they won't be poisoning your dog.

I don't have a problem with food products from Europe, or Canada, for that matter.
Remembered the Aldis mentioned above as we passed it yesterday, the new one being built in Cherrydale. The design of the bldg is different than other Aldis.

Could it be like what the European Aldi Nord look like?
