This could be the end of receiving daily newspapers. Most news is accessed quicker digitally than on paper.
Weekly newspapers remain effective by mail.
I wonder who will insert the Sunday advertising supplements? And does the postal service even deliver mail on Sundays? So what will they do about the big Sunday paper?
I am guessing Sunday delivery will stick around a while longer.
I was subscribed to the WSJ which has a large Saturday edition, and I was told the Saturday edition would begin to be delivered on Sundays as a cost saving measure.

Looks like the big Sunday paper is now printed on Fridays and delivered on Saturdays as a "weekend edition." So much for holding the presses for late, up to date news and Saturday sports scores. Seems like less content and is missing the advertising supplements. Major disappointing changes. The Sunday paper is the major newspaper of the week but now offers much less out of date content. And no ad circulars.
The New York Times and The Charlotte Observer are still sold on Sundays at Publix and Harris Teeter and have more up to date content.

The Greenville News is available as an e-edition. It is much better than waiting on a physical paper. All newspapers will be delivered that way sooner than later. Delivery is a waste of time and money, and makes no sense for the handful of folks that still reads the news that way.
I finally convinced my parents to go straight digital of the Greenville News when they ceased delivery. Lo and behold, they took a sales call from the News and they offered the print edition and promised hand delivery. Of course, that is not available, and the paper has been delivered via USPS - most days it comes by 10:30. But there are those days it shows up at 1pm.
The big Black Friday paper sold Wednesday and Thursday has been a big disappointment this year. They charge you $5.00 because of the extra advertising circulars which for the most part did not appear this year. Used to be this paper was always stuffed with all the thick advertising supplements. I believe I saw Macy's but no Best Buy, Belk and most of the other stores you always used to see. Although it was always a bit of a gimmick as those circulars are delivered free of charge to most major newspapers nationwide every year by national advertising vendors in association with the retailers. No major cost to the newspapers as they do not print them. But it does not appear if many retailers participated this year, as I guess most doorbusters now appear online, without as much of a need to line up at Walmart or Best Buy at midnight anymore.

Yes. The papers are desperate and trying to gouge people for 5 bucks because they still think the Black Friday ads make it the only time of the year a print edition is in high demand.
Belk mailed their Black Friday circular to Belk card holders but have cut way back on circulars throughout the year and replaced with their Belk app for deals and coupons.
As far as Best Buy, does anyone shop there anymore? They are even stopping selling movies leaving Amazon, Target and Walmart. I remember when folks would camp out at Best Buy for Black Friday and it was the place to go for music and movies. Just no reason to go there anymore IMO.
