Was told (second hand) that Eddie Bauer will re-open in Greenville in about one year in an "open" location. I suspect this would be Greenridge or Magnolia.

I realize that Haywood Mall is doing quite well. But, I think that enclosed malls are yesterday's concept. "Open Air" shopping centers are the future. Great examples are The Summit (The Summit Birmingham - Home (http://www.thesummitonline.com/birmingham/index.html - broken link)) in Birmingham, AL and the Friendly Center (Friendly Center - 336.292.2789) in Greensboro, NC. These shopping avenues are what retailers are migrating to.

As big as the Upstate is, I'm surprised there are no "upscale" open air centers (Greenridge doesn't count...yet).

Interesting news about Eddie Bauer. I hope the move works well for them, because they obviously weren't competitive enough with their peer retailers at Haywood Mall.

Magnolia Park Town Center (Woodruff Road, at the old Greenville Mall location adjacent to Hollywood 20) is supposed to be the upscale open-air retail center you desire, but it has been slow to materialize in this economy. Their intention is to make it a true lifestyle center with higher end retail, dining, residential, and perhaps a hotel or two. Who knows what the final product will look like though.

I would hope that if individual retailers/restaurants, etc. see an imminent opportunity in the Upstate market, that they go ahead and jump on it, instead of waiting who knows how long for Magnolia to open.

Default good news

Thanks G-Man! They are finally going to update the program we use for our multiple listing so it will be compatible with a Mac. We haven't been able to use them. I will definitely be checking one out when it comes time for the next purchase. Everyone I know swears by theirs.
