Closing on a house soon in Greer near Blue Ridge schools and I'm curious about a couple of things:

1. How are the Blue Ridge schools?
2. How is Greer, particularly in the north end near the Blue Ridge Schools?

I've live in both Travelers Rest and the southern side of Greer. We are breaking ground on our new house just west of Blue Ridge in the next few days!

Historically, the northern half of the county has had a reputation of being a bit "redneck" and "country". The "country" part is still true, but in the last 6-8 years, money has moved into the area. Most new construction in the northern half of the county seems to be in the neighborhood of $250,000 and up. 10-15 years ago, it had a much higher percentage of trailers, etc.

Geographically it is perfect for the things that my family enjoys. We can be in downtown Greenville in about 15-20 minutes, yet are only 10-15 minutes from the mountains (with great views), and are closer to area lakes as well.

Greer is typical of its size. Wade Hampton Blvd. is starting to have all the major big box stores.

Does Greer Blue ridge schools area have more of a (red neck ) country reputation than Piedmont Powdersville area with the Wren Schools???

I considered moving to greer to powdersville but I am not really a country type of person so We landed in Simpsonville .

I believe both areas have always been pretty similar, but development, growth and change are happening much faster in Greer/Blue Ridge.
