We may be relocating there (haven't visited yet). Any beach-y areas? Or short drives to one for a day trip? Not necessary for a big huge beach but wondering if there is at least an area where we could sit on the sand and watch our kid play (she's 3, not that picky and loves the sand).

Thanks!

Lake Jocassee (http://www.lakejocassee.com/default.htm - broken link) has a nice beach at Devil's Fork State Park.

Lake Hartwell has several places you may want to check out.

Pleasant Ridge County Park (http://greenvillerec.com/parks/all/3/pleasant-ridge - broken link) is another nice place to spend time with family.

We are headed to Table Rock tomorrow for a hike and time on their beach. Cold mountain water and a pretty beach with nice picnic areas.
About This Park - Table Rock State Park - South Carolina Parks
About 30 to 40 minutes from Greenville.

Lake Keowee (in the Seneca area, about 45 minutes or so from Greenville) also has a few family-friendly beaches, incl. Mile Creek, South Cove, and High Falls parks.

Went to South cove a few weeks ago on a camping trip with the mens group from my church. It's one of the most beautiful areas that I've ever been to. Unfortunately I spent 4 hours in the ER so I never got to go in the water.

About two hours away is Lake Lanier. Hartwell is closer but I have family in North Georgia that I go and visit. We like to take a boat out and visit the small islands on the lake. You can find your own private beach! its great, we'll pack a picnic and spend the day out there, nothing like spending a day on the water!

Cool! Very nice to know we have lots of options! I have never been to "the mountains" so I'm definitely looking forward to that too! Thanks everyone.
