The structure would need to be brought up to code. It would not take long to gut the building, modernize it, and open it for use again.

Does anyone know if anyone is looking at the former Sonic Drive In and Checkers on Wade Hampton Boulevard in Taylors?

Had the gobbler (turkey burger) at Grill Marks this past Saturday. Great food, presented well in a wonderful setting. I will return. For those with food restrictions, they do have gluten free buns.

Does Cookout have drive-thru only locations? That spot certainly won't fit a store the size of the Cookout at Cherrydale!

According to one unofficial website, most of their stores have two drive-thru lanes plus outdoor seating.

Yes, Gastonia and Speedway Blvd in Concord have double-drive thru locations. I have visited both.

In NC, virtually all of them are dual drive thru stores with a walkup window, just like Checkers. I was surprised at the dining rooms they're incorporating in the upstate locations.

agreed. The first cookout I saw in Greenville was only the 2nd cookout I have ever seen that had an "inside" portion and it was far bigger than the other one as well.

Good to know. So, I wonder why they're completely razing the old Checkers facility (which probably had the footprint they would need) instead of just refurbing it?

Why did Checkers close in Greenville? They still have many locations in Ga and seem to do well there, and I thought they did a decent business here. And I always thought they were good fast food, and food was hot and fresh. I liked their burgers and seasoned fries.
