About a year ago I hired a brilliant but troubled young man to work for me. He was always honest with me and a very hard worker so when he became homeless, I told him he could sleep at my shop. Two weeks ago he took his own life, in my shop late at night. Three days later, my cycling buddy did the same thing but in his own (rented) home. He had some legal issues that distressed him.
I was really dejected over this. I don't usually attend funerals or get involved with people outside my immediate circle but these guys were my circle so I got right in there with the relatives and close friends and I am here to tell you that it's really hard to go in and clean up and tie up loose ends. I can see how people, loved ones can get dragged down and sustain injury. I usually take pretty good care of myself but I am tired and sore all over after a couple of weeks of this. I decided to make some donations to local charities in my friends names and volunteer at events that effect local youth.
I have to tell you I think I am on the back side of this but my heart goes out to people who have lost loved ones after long, close relationships. I hope you can find some peace and a constructive way to heal yourself and others effected. Thanks for listening.
So sorry this has happened. Have a friend that also did this a few years ago. it was devastating to his family and children and friends left behind. So sad.
Tough situation for anyone to go through. I imagine there's a lot of the stages of grief w/ some self blame or anger. Would probably help to talk to someone to ventilate.
I am so sorry this happened, especially two people close to you. Yes, I would certainly talk to someone if you can about these happenings and how you feel. This is a life event that is probably difficult for you to get over. This loss times 2 and the grief you are feeling. Good luck and take care of yourself now.
I'm sorry - that's a huge load to bear. My heart goes out to you.
If you can see a counselor, just for a session or two, I think it could be really helpful. That's a lot to digest on your own.
