I could care less about the latest fads,I like my hair long, and swept up in a french twist,or in a nice feminine bun, twist. I feel elegant with it long, and always will hopefully!
I guess we have reached an agreement that to wear it long you have to have both the hair and the face for it and each of these can change over time.
My hair is fine with a bit of a wave. When I was in my teens I wore it long and it looked like a haystack. I think, with hair - mine at least - I want to wear it in a style that takes the least fussing. When I went to business some of my competition were men and I always envied how they could do so little to their hair each morning. Even the clothes they wore were kind of a uniform. Hard to make a mistake there.
I am glad that we live in the day that almost anything goes and women do not have to fuss as much if they haven't the time nor inclination.
My MIL had beautiful black hair - very long. She did wear it up in a bun and she never cut it. She had Alzheimers at the end and I know at one point that her husband (who also loved it) had to cut it for ease. How hard that must have been and I hope she had no idea!
Everyone always said she looked elegant. That was just how she liked it.

Long may you reign dear. Reminds me of a classic stately picture. If I live to a hundred and want pippi longstocking pig tails, by god, I'm wearing them and could give a rats behind what anyone thinks.
Back in the 1970s when I was young, many women had long hair. It got started in the hippie era of the late 1960s and continued well into the 1980s. Trouble is many of these women who grew up with the long hair in the 60s and 70s are now Grandmas and no longer look all that great with super long hair. Though they still look at themselves as young hippie girls from 1970s- instead of the middle aged women they are today.
I say cut your hair into something more fitting to your age and situation. Agree or disagree?
disagree.. women look a lot younger then the old lady short mens cut from back in the day for over 40's
Look at Christie Brinkley, Racquel Welch, Cher, to name a few.
maybe you should wear a wig like George Washington did. Sound like you're stuck in a time capsule

True, if a woman can afford facial work to make herself appear to be much younger, why not wear the hair that matches? Unfortunately, we are talking about normal, average gals here, not wealthy showbiz types who got where they are because of their looks, in part.
As women age and estrogen leaves their faces take on more masculine characteristics. The solution is not to just lengthen the hair, looking like an aging hippy, but usually waves of some kind framing the face, softening those harsh features.
Usually any sort of harsh extreme should be avoided unless you are knock down gorgeous.

there are a LOT of women who have not had work GOOD GENES and can wear long hair.
As for Plastic surgery that is a different topic. But, just like you take care of your teeth you should take care of your skin an it now very affordable. by the way I don't agree with extreme surgeries.
One of the most beautiful women I have ever seen is in her 50s with hair almost to her waist. She looks FAR from "silly". Where DO people get such "silly" notions?
Because It is a matter of individual taste and it has been commonly believed for an awfully long time that as women age a hair style should be softer and uplifting around the face to counter the effects of aging that most of us normally undergo.
The skin also gets a bit darker, so it is kind of typical for most older women to lighten their hair to both brighten the face and not to call attention to the new collection of wrinkles.
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
My beautiful wife who is 60 years old has long brown hair. I wouldn't have it any other way.
