I still get relaxers and for me it is a personal preference. My hair is nice and healthy and relaxers make it more manageable. When I go to the salon people always comment on how healthy my hair is and I take very good care of it. I have no interest in wearing a afro or locs but I make no judgments about people who like those hairstyles. I have some friends who are natural and some who get relaxers but honestly the people I know who are natural, their hair was already damaged so they needed to cut it off. And like another poster said I don't care what anybody else does with their hair or what is in or out. Just my preference.

I am friends with someone who would prefer to go back to natural but continues to relax because she feels it garners more respect in her professional circle.

She looks great natural. I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but she has experienced very different reactions from others in her field when she was natural versus having relaxed hair. I'm not her, but I don't doubt her experience at all.
