Default sandbridge question

Usually when my family and I go to Virginia Beach, we usually head to the oceanfront around 31st. This weekend we are going to check out Sandbridge, and it has been over 15 years since I have been there. What is the parking situation like? any other sandbridge info will be greatly appreciated

It's not set up like the boardwalk and certainly not alot of people. I stopped in at the Sandbridge Market saturday for charcoal and saw there was plenty of parking along the roads. I normally park at the market when I take my dog down there in the evenings while at the RV.

I agree with Frog Biscuit ,go to Little Island Park , a large public beach area at the south end of Sandbridge. Located at 3820 Sandpiper Road The park features lifeguards, covered picnic areas with grills, bath houses/showers, lighted tennis courts, basketball court, children's playground, and even a fishing pier. (757) 426-7200. If you want to explore nature while you are there check out Back Bay Wildlife Refuge and or False Cape State Park

It's nice, but if you don't get there by 10 or 11, fahgettabout it. The parking right now is HIGH demand. Get there early, or you won't be able to park. Been there done that, too many times now.

Agreed, the secret of Sandbridge has long been told and it gets very hard to find parking if you dont get there early........So I normally wait till after 6pm so I can take my dog with me so he can play in the water also and I have stay away from Little Island Park area because dogs are not allowed there at any time

Does anybody know if there are many families that live in sandbridge year-round?? I'm looking at possibly moving to that area, but I have 2 kids (11 and 9) and don't want them to be isolated from kids their age. Are there many young children that live in Sandbridge year-round? I called the elementary school for that area, and they said "Yes, lots of them"...and then called the middle school and they said "no, it's mostly vacation rentals and not many kids" (sigh)...how can I find this out?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

There are families that live there year round. When we first moved here, I was very close to getting a rental for the off season while I decided where to settle.

Maybe you could call the fire dept right there? They would know the off season population.

I don't understand the comments about having trouble parking at Little Island. We've been there several times and have never had trouble parking in the lot. (though you do have to pay) We've arrived in the afternoon, and there have been a number of open spots, even on beautiful days. Maybe we are just incredibly lucky. On the other hand, we've had a terrible time parking in the touristy part of the VB oceanfront a few times. We made a big mistake in particular trying to go on July 4th. Oh boy--spending an hour and a half trying to find parking was fun!

Once tourist season is over, there is good parking at Little Island, only because the locals are piling to the beach. Summer is a very busy time there, as no one really wants to hang at the oceanfront with all the tourists unless there is some good entertainment happening.
