Manhiem Township offers the most amenities at your disposal.. with top notch schools.. It is considered the most well to do area of the Lancaster suburbs.

Although the OP could look at areas further west of Lancaster and a little closer to York. Most of the schools and areas are perfectly fine there as well in an area like Millersville.

But moving from Las Vegas.. I imagine they would not want an area too rural or far removed.

Lancaster by far is the best kept secret in the Mid Atlantic...

83 is snarled by truck traffic. 30 is not. 30 is not designed to carry the volume it sees, but at least you do not have heavy truck traffic and the accidents that come along with it. 83 has really bad accidents all the time because of its truck traffic volume. It is not good or pleasant.

And Bridge 12 I do not understand your rational... because coming from Harrisburg. You are fighting with Harrisburg traffic and then York traffic. So it is no different.

Losfia...

I would recommend Manhiem Township. (Not the town, Manhiem... you want Manhiem Township.. Pennsylvania is confusing with municipalities and what they are named. lol )

Lancaster is honestly the best kept secret in the Mid Atlantic.

Affordable. With big city amenities. But small town charm. And just one hour to the Philadelphia suburbs for what I would consider some of the nicest suburbs in the USA.

Good luck!
I agree that Lancaster/Manheim township is great but I definitely don't think the commute is better than the west shore of Harrisburg. From the west shore, you literally hop on 83 south and you are in Manchester in 30 minutes in a reverse commute. Manheim township is 40 to as much as 52 (!!!) minutes, just now when I put it into Google Maps.

Coming from Lancaster, you deal with Lancaster City traffic on Route 30 then...the absolute mess of Route 30/83 around York, then head north on 83 to get off for Manchester. Not comparable at all. Two cities of traffic.

83 south of 581 and 30 actually have very comparable traffic volumes, you can see for yourself here: https://www.penndot.gov/ProjectAndPr...ic-Volume.aspx

The OP can decide what works best for her.

30 has nowhere near the same volume of truck traffic as 83.

83 has closures and backups at least every other week due to accidents, mostly from tractor trailers. Its a mess of a highway.

30 has pretty low truck volume overall.

Camp Hill could certainly work. I personally would prefer to live in Manhiem Twp and do the 30 commute than do the 83 commute. You also can easily get off of 30 and travel north on 24 once you get to York County.

24 is a pleasant two lane road that goes through some very scenic farm areas. There is no need to mess with 83 if you are coming from Lancaster.

Rte 30 can be horrendous through York. Stop and go. At least you’re moving on I-83.

I drove from Camp Hill to York for work everyday for 5 years and very rarely had any issues. Traffic on 83 usually sails along. Yes there is a lot of truck traffic but I experienced very few accidents or other issues during those 5 years. Now on the other hand driving on 30 around lunch time to get lunch was a nightmare. So much stop and go traffic and people driving like idiots all over the road. I would choose driving on 83 anyday anytime versus 30.
