Hi all,

I'm looking to move to Hawaii, don't know which island yet because I am seeking accommodations at this time. Currently I work for the gov. on the mainland. Looking to find a place to land and begin to locate a space for a Zen center. Will also have day job-hopefully before too long.

Any suggestions on accommodations would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It's quite difficult to give meaningful answers to such a general question. Accomodations are available everywhere. Finding a job is probably your real #1 priority. But where do you want to look?

I suggest you start by reading the second "Sticky" thread at the top of the page in its entirety, then read some of the back posts by using the "Search" function to bring up general topics you are interested in. Once you've done some research, the Forum is a good place to answer more specific questions.

I will throw into the hopper my observation that there are already lots of Zen practitioners here in Hawai'i, so an easy start would be to affiliate with a center that is already operating, and in my experience you'll find like minded people there to be supportive and helpful.

But first you need to decide where you're headed.

Good luck!

Well, there's Akiko's Buddhist bed & breakfast over by Honomu on the Big Island where you can sit zazen before breakfast if you like. Might be a good place to start your explorations from.
