Hi, I am a section 8 voucher holder on the mainland and I plan to transfer it to Hawaii. I am open to multiple islands, but Maui is my favorite. (Beggars can't be choosers)
What I want to know is, how do I find properties that accept section 8-NOTE I do not need to obtain section 8, I need to know where the rentals exist.

I need a one bedroom. (Studio would work too)
It won't happen.
There are 10,000 families on the wait list - and no names have been added since 2006.
I thought I was very clear I guess not. I am not going to be on a wait list as I am not waiting for anything-I have a section 8 voucher. I need to know which landlords accept section 8.

You need to find out of the housing authority you want to move to is accepting incoming portable vouchers. Either google the housing authority in the place you want to move to and add the words accepting portable vouchers or contact the office (email or phone) to ask them if they are.
If they are accepting vouchers, they may have a list of apts that may have openings. Beyond that, you need to contact apt companies and ask if they accept housing vouches.

Best wishes!
I forgot to say, I already contacted Maui, and they are accepting, but they didn't have a list of landlords. So, that is why I am here looking.

Very good that you found they are accepting. It could be as whtviper1 said, no one is accepting. But you most likely won't find them here. The chance of a landlord to happen by this thread with an open apt AND accepts the voucher is slim to not existing.
You must do the leg work in order to have a chance at finding someone who is accepting the vouchers.
The only way you will find an apt in Maui is to go and contact the landlords in person.
