It isn't a yes/no kinda question, it is a "it depends" kinda question. If you have a canary, a small neutered cat, a rabbit, guinea pig, aquarium or some such, more than likely they will rent to you. If you have a great dane, a dozen fighting roosters or even worse, a pit bull, good luck.
It may help if you have a letter from previous landlords regarding how well behaved and CLEAN your pet was on their property. Having a dog that has a Canine good citizen certificate also will go a long way when trying to persuade a landlord that your animal is a good risk. There ARE landlords who will change their minds if the animal is properly presented. Good luck!
An additional issue is the breed of dog. Most insurance companies will no longer insure the property for the landlord if the tenant's dog is of certain breeds that are considered "dangerous".

Although I see how this state of affairs developed, I have to say that it is very unjust to have a list of only large breeds. Some of the worst bite offenders are breeds like chihuahuas.

I am in the process of negotiations with 2 rentals for short term . After I get there I will look for a longer term rental or if I get lucky buy a home but my hopes aren't to high to buy right now I need to find the right spot first.
