My brother has Medicare. He purchased a monthly "carve out" program through Lovelace that he pays the copay through and they bill Medicare. He was recently approved for Medicaid. What does this do for him? Any suggestions?

First, he doesn't need the Lovelace "carve out" program.

Second, Medicaid should now be paying the Medicare Part B premium.

Based on this,

Lovelace Health System | Medical Services and Hospitals in New Mexico

Participating Urgent Care Locations | Lovelace Health System

Lovelace is a medical system, which also sells a [Medicare] supplement health plan. Most supplements pay the 20% copay. If he's been paying that, he needs to find out what this "carveout" does pay for.

That said - if your brother now has Medicaid, assuming Lovelace accepts Medicaid patients, payment for services should now be coordinated between Medicare and Medicaid. At this point your brother should not have to pay anything, or very little, and no longer needs the Lovelace plan. Most people with dual Medicare/Medicaid coverage do not need yet a third plan.

But, Lovelace may not accept Medicaid patients and reimbursements, at all. Certain medical providers don't. He needs to check with Lovelace on coordination between Medicare and Medicaid.
