Typically, when someone immigrates to the US, they need a sponsor who is financially responsible for them for a period of 10 years, blah blah blah. It is the law, not me. It is a big friggin' deal to sign that paper.

Exactly because they gave no way to fix it. That's why it wasn't fixed and she was left with no insurance. Go figure. She tried and tried and called and visited the Medicare and Medicaid offices multiple times just to be left without answers as her situation is atypical. Nobody could help her as when you turn 65 all organizations that usually help you figure out instances etc. Turn their back at you and say "go to medicare" but when you are not eligible for Medicare you can just go and cry in a corner as there are no alternatives.

That is part of this thread and your attitude towards a system which allowed you and your friend to live in the US. According to some of your other posts the patient is your mother and was sponsored by your husband.
