Appreciate the kind thoughts Skitow. I will be 77 first week of Aug and like you the mind is working real well. Watching TV one day, a card shark at Las Vegas Casino was showing how he would count cards (silently) only revealing the last card before turning it over. Well, after a 1/2 hr of practicing I figured it out how to do the trick. Its MATHEMATICS. I turn the cards over as fast as I can, counting in my head that helps to stimulate the brain. Again, thanx fer yur knsern. (College degree working). Steve

Well things are happening. On the 4th talked with Neurosurgeon to operate. Today (16th) talked with my provider, also had a EKG and now on Wed 18th will go to Nuclear Medicine for a "Adenosine Sestamibi Heart Scan" to check my heart further for some small problems that may be related to that area. Also on schedule is a Ultrsound on my neck from the previous Thyroidectomy I had. I was cleared of any Cancer there last month. Have had a slight very tired feeling the last couple of weeks with real low blood pressure and some heart skipping beats. Everything is related I guess. Will keep you all informed as things progress and maybe somebody out there might have similiar problems as me and will act accordingly to take care of it quickly. Steve

The good, the bad, and the ugly huh? Hi Steve. I'm glad you let us know what's happening. If you ever want to DM me and let off some steam,IN YOUR OWN WORDS, feel free to contact me. I'm pulling for you. I have the same low blood pressure, but that was just a matter of reducing my b.p. meds. Hang in there. Soon this will all be just a memory. skitow(Patrick)

Default Bad lower back

I normally have constant, 24-7 lower back pain that is really annoying. Its not crippling or anything, but standing hurts, sitting too long hurts, etc. Seems the only time it feels good is if Im active (but not overly strenuous). Anyways, Ive tried heat patches, ice patches, muscle relaxers, and nothing works! Today while bending over I felt a sharp pain and could hardly use my right leg for a few minutes. My wife believes I have a pinched nerve. Sound feasible? It still feels raw, but now (20 minutes later) I can move around a lot more and with a lot less pain than when it first happened. Anyone have this sort of thing and what should I do? I play a lot of street hockey with some friends and family, and even after a few short minutes I have to sit down for awhile because the pain gets too intense. I dont like living this way! HELP!

Steve-o, how are your core muscles? I've heard that when your stomach muscles are neglected that the back muscles try to compensate (which leads to your back being thrown out of wack).

Yeah, I've heard that as well. There are stretches and exercises you can do to help this.

I'd find a massage therapist who uses kinesiology and do the 30 minute chair massage minimum. Do the 1-hr table massage with aroma therapy if you want to feel good for at least a week. But drink lots of water when you're done or you'll be really sore. They might be able to determine if stretching and exercise can help.

It's really hard to say exactly where the pain is coming from.

Hi Steve-O. I was going to say the same thing. Keep your core muscles firm. Do the sit ups. Strong ABS give great back support. My back is trashed. Sounds like your getting the first messages from your back. Stop it dead in it's tracks. I know, everyone hates to exercise. Iv'e had 2 back ops. Don't go there. Stay strong. Take care, skitow

I see you haven't made any more posts about your back. If I were you I would get an MRI and see for sure what's going on inside. Xrays wont show soft tissue damage. Your symptoms sound somewhat serious. Get checked out and go from there. 24 hour back pain; not a good sign. Let us know how you're doing please. Take care, skitow

My advice would be to ice it down, take something like Advil and see a competent chiropractor. Then take it from there... As skitow posted above, you might need to contact your doctor if it's bad enough. From my experience though, I personally would go to my chiropractor about something like that before I would consult my medical doctor.

Thank you (and everyone else, too!) skitow! I went back for a follow-up visit (went to Urgent Care about an hour or so after I first posted) and he is recommending therapy. If that doesnt work, an MRI is to be scheduled. He said my lower discs are not flexing like my upper ones are. In any case, they gave me some Naproxen until the threapist can see me and make a decision on where to go next.

Thanks for your concern and suggestions.
