Cheese is a major part of their diets, so yes cheese is one of the culprits. And no, it's not my fault. My son wasn't fat until he was in nearly 30.
Actually it's pointless to get in a discussion with someone who says 'food is food'. Food is good or food is crap.
no, food is food. you eat too much of any food and you will get fat. you eat six cheese slices but still don't ingest more calories than you burn and you wont get obese.
My kids...I told them, three pieces of cheese, then eat one apple. Balance. One small dish of ice cream, then a bowl of cherries. One serving of pasta, and one serving of salad.
That's not too much cheese, that's too much cheese product. Real cheese has some redeeming qualities, but cheese product? Not so much. Also, that "ham and cheese loaf" you speak of in the sandwich -- are you talking about the processed bologna-looking "meat" with specks of "cheese" in it? If so, this is all just too much processed food, too much fake cheese, too much sodium, not enough good stuff.
In my house there could never be enough cheese. My husband loves all kinds. Me? I can take it or leave it except for grated cheese I put it on everything.
I was raised mostly vegetarian, but we did eat lots of oily/fatty fish, eggs, cheese. And processed food was extremely rare.
My siblings and I are all now middle-aged, thin and stupid-healthy.
However growing up we were not allowed to snack. We didn't get to go help ourselves to whatever we felt like. We were fed lots of good food, but at meal times only. If we stole stuff out of the pantry we were punished. Parents were in charge. Is this not a norm nowadays?
Yes. It's fattening...
60 cal per slice, too much saturated fat, too much salt.
Also some said that too much cheese leads to bladder cancer.
Kraft Singles is a processed food, a "cheese product" - not a real cheese. In other words - plastic food.
If you kid loves cheese so much, get the REAL thing, look for low in saturated fat and sodium, and keep the intake in moderation.
^^This^^
Calling that stuff cheese is being extremely generous. If he loves cheese so much, at least feed him real cheese.
I'm sure glad I wasn't raised on that notion. I suppose hotdogs, TV dinners, and cupcakes with a shelf life of a year are food too? You can limit your caloric and fat intake but still subject your body to ingredients that have harmful effects.
