I had lung surgery in July 2008. I had both upper lobes removed. The first 4 years there was a remarkable difference. Year 5 (2013) I could notice I was reverting back to struggling catching my breath. Today 7 Years later I cannot breathe as well and now have supplemental oxygen. Resting my oxygen levels are 92 and drop the minute I get up and do anything....I read beet juice extract might help so I ordered some today to try it .Does anyone have other things that might improve lung function?

What does your doctor suggest? If you haven't been in a while I'd go. Maybe he could prescribe some respiratory therapy to help. I think you need to know what's causing the issue to know what will help.
Honestly, beet juice extract isn't going to do a thing. If you've already had 2 lobes removed, that suggests you already had/still have some type of serious issue. Pulmonary rehab (with lung exercises/pursed lip breathing, etc), along with talking to your doctor about long acting meds, via nebulizer or inhaler, may or may not help at this point. In addition, stay on the supplemental O2. Truthfully, you're beyond the point that regular suggestions would significantly help (vitamins, exercise, diet, etc). See your doctor.
Pulmonary rehab has no benefit for a person like me that already knows that you need to walk daily for at least a half an hour.....everyday i do the tread mill and that is what happens in rehab.....I know the concept of pursed breathing..I just think that even though the surgery was beneficial in the beginning it has reverted back 7 years later
