Has anyone been through or is going through periomenapause? I have been for a couple years along with most of my friends. I was wondering if anyone else has been suffering and what have you done that you feel helps?

What have you been experiencing so far, Rapture? At your age I was primarily just starting to experience hot flashes. Since I'm the only female in my immediate family to reach the age of 40, I had noone to talk to about it. I was able to find a very good forum. Let me try to find it again and I'll PM you the address.

Thanks Grammy.

Here are some of the symptoms my friends and I are all having. I'm happy they are going through it at the same time, otherwise it makes you feel like your going crazy.

1. feel like your going crazy : )
2. forgetful
3. feel like crying often
4. people get on your nerves more than usual
5. painful & irregular monthly period

Well, I had always suffered with #5. A couple of years ago that actually finally stopped. No more cramps. Only had to wait about 40 years.
The forgetfulness and feeling of going crazy only seemed to bother me at certain times of the month.
I also had extreme fatigue.
I'd like to tell you it gets better----well, it will in about 10 years.

Thank you, I have your pm and I'll check it out. I forgot about the fatigue and anxiety is another one. I know the pain is so bad sometimes it feels like I was punched in the stomach. Dr. said take magnesium but that hasn't helped at all.

Hahahaha! That is funny!!

I started with peri symptoms in my mid to late 40's, mix that with a hypothyroid condition and you have lots of fun.

I found a message board focusing on this topic, and it has been so helpful. http://www.power-surge.com/php/forums/index.php
If the link disappears, the name of the site is "Power Surge."

I sympathize. I know many, many times I was pretty much confined to my bed because I couldn't stand to be away from my heating pad. I probably came close to overdosing on Ibuprofen more than once, just to try numb the pain. Nothing else really helped.
I've never been able to take any kind of hormones, so I have tried various herbs to help with other symtoms. Black Cohost Root really helped me sleep better and helped control night sweats.

I have another female question to ask? Hope that is okay Rapture. Did anyone get those brown spots on your face while pregnant. If you did, when did they go away. It has been four years I still have some.
