I developed spinal headaches after my C-section. The first one that I had caused me to collapse in extreme pain on my bedroom floor. It was like my head was in a vise grip. The pain was so excruciating that as I laid there I did not even attempt to call for help (although, the pain was so bad I doubted if I could have made a sound) as I truly, honestly thought that I was going to die and I decided that I would rather die on my bedroom floor than in an ambulance.
I laid there for almost an hour until my husband came to check on me ( he thought that I was taking a nap) by then the pain was starting to subside. He took me to the ER and they shot me full of powerful painkillers and other medications.
This specific type of headache lasted about three months but then I developed migraine headaches. They were certainly no picnic, and I needed to frequently go the ER to get rid of them, but nothing ever compared to the pain of that very first spinal headache.
Shingles. In "groin crease" & on hip & thigh. Now dealing with the resulting neuropathy. Up until this, I thought my occasional migraine was the worst.
Due to acute kidney failure (undiagnosed at the time), I had gout in all the joints of one foot 24/7 for 3 months. The pain was so bad that I even asked a doctor to cut off the foot. I was later told that the three most painful conditions are passing a kidney stone, childbirth and gout.
Childbirth. I went from 4 cm to delivery in 15 min. I remember looking at the window and wishing I could jump out--anything to make the pain stop.
I have given birth 4 times, and there is nothing I have experienced that will come near the agony of labor.
I have experienced childbirth, a kinked ureter ( the pain is similar to that of a kidney stone,), broken bones, and molar abscesses. To me the pain of each of these experiences is apples and oranges, each has its own unique misery.
