No. I've had the flu shot only once, and got the flu about a week later. I've never felt worse. I've never had the flu since, and I work with kids. I don't trust the flu shot or the pharmaceutical industry. I do all kinds of holistic/homeopathic things to stay healthy.
It takes the flu vaccine two weeks to take effect. That's why it's best to get it early.
But washing hands and not touching eyes, nose and mouth are great preventatives, especially after touching gas pumps, atm's, door handles, etc.
It doesn't matter if your immune system is strong though. If you are exposed to flu virus you are going to get knocked down.
Not necessarily... we had the flu back in October/November. My husband got hit hard (sick for almost 2 weeks), I got hit less hard (sick for 6 days), and the kids got over it fairly quickly (under 3 days each). All of us except my husband took Vitamin C and zinc. The kids eat better than we adults do, and get tons of exercise and fresh air... I think it's safe to say that they have a stronger immune system than my husband and I. Or it could have been a coincidence... but either way, not everyone reacts to these viruses the same way. That's why people with a suppressed immune system should get the shots.

Exactly. Flu has gone around my place of employment every year since I've been here, and I've never gotten it. My immune system is like the Gulag...nothing survives.

I dont' understand that. Not everyone who is exposed to the flu (and isn't vaccinated against that strain) will get it. Why not? Why do some get it and some don't? I say those with a stronger immune system won't get it.
Never had one, never will. They're a waste of money unless you're in an at-risk group.
We get them for free at work (not reuired of course, but at least 50% of the 1200 people at our corporate office get one). The three people I know here who have had the flu this year did not receive a shot this year.
I thought my immune system was pretty good a few years ago. God/nature depending on your beliefs reminded me of my mortality with a nasty stomach virus.
I have never gotten a flu shot and never will. I also had one other person in my household come down with a nasty cold/flu bug the past 2 weeks and I never caught it. I've only been sick really bad with the flu maybe twice in the last 10 years. Pretty good odds.
I wash my hands all the time! Also my immune system is strong, i eat right, exercise daily. Plus i don't want the flu, so it stays away.

You are welcome to believe that. But I think there are many factors at work, including the amount of viral load, condition of immune system, and whether you have developed antibodies for another flu strain that becomes activated when a new one is encountered. Otherwise when flu hit, everyone in contact with the sick person would become just as sick.
