This has happened to me four times over the past 20 years. Exactly the same area of concern each time. Every time it was simply that they had failed to get good compression of the breast. They repeated the X-ray and every thing was fine.

I now try to remember to tell the technician each year before I have my mammogram that she needs to get really good compression of my right breast or I will get a call back.

I worried myself sick the first time it happened. There is an area on my right breast that is hard to read on the X-ray unless they get really good compression. Easier said than done, but, try not to worry. They will have someone read the X-Ray immediately while you wait to decide if they need to do an ultrasound.

These mamms are so worrisome for we women. I had to go back for a re-do after my first one at age early 50's and it was calcifications. I'm 79 next month and have done no more mamms. I take supps that I believe keep my breasts healthy.

I agree - had bad experience with one and never went back. There is lots of info on the internet about the false readings and issues from the mammos themselves - no thanks. One of the best things one can do for the breasts health is to keep the lymph fluid moving. That means walking briskly swinging the arms, or gentle bouncing on a trampoline, even regular massage.
